Background

Paradise Garden Grill is a quick service restaurant in DCA that focuses on serving up dishes with vibrant Mexican flavors. The menu features a mix of Mexican classics, as well as innovative twists on well-loved dishes.

Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.

Atmosphere

As this is a walk-up window, all the seating is located outside. Although shaded areas can be a bit hard to find, adventurers willing to explore will discover several unconventional, but comfortable seating spots.

Fortunately, there’s plenty of seating available, so finding a spot is generally only a challenge during peak meal times or at exceptionally busy periods. This is yet another reason we recommend dining during off-peak hours!

But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food & Drinks

First up, we tried the Al Pastor Tacos, priced at $13.99. This dish features Pineapple-Achiote-marinated pork topped with avocado spread and tomatillo salsa, accompanied by Spanish rice and refried beans and finished with a sprinkle of queso fresco.

The primary flavors in the dish were from the juicy pork and creamy avocado spread, complemented by the marinade’s subtle sweetness reminiscent of grilled pineapple. The freshness of the avocado and the vibrant flavors created a delightful culinary experience.

These were really solid!

The tortillas were warm and appeared freshly made! However, we found the salsa flavor a bit muted, lacking the expected spice. While these tacos were enjoyable, we wouldn’t necessarily choose them over the birria or other enticing options available at Cocina Cucamonga. Nevertheless, they come with rice and beans at a similar price point, which is a nice touch!

We’d get them again!

For dessert, we indulged in the Mango Strawberry Chile-Lime Parfait, priced at $6.79. This colorful dessert features layers of mango mousse, vanilla cake, mango passion fruit compote, and strawberry chamoy chile-lime gelée.

The chile influence in this dessert was subtle, making it a pleasant surprise rather than an overwhelming flavored experience. The mango flavors were fresh and sweet, perfectly balanced with the strawberry and passion fruit elements. The texture contrasts were intriguing, with the mango mousse providing a creamy component, while the strawberry gelée added a jello-like consistency. While this might not be our first choice for dessert, the flavors surprisingly complemented each other well!

To quench our thirst, we also sampled the Pineapple Agua Fresca priced at $6.99, described as a fresh pineapple juice beverage.

This refreshing drink was the perfect antidote to a hot day! Blending pineapple juice and water, it offers a sweet but not overly tart pineapple flavor. If you’re looking to cool down on a warm day, this drink would definitely be a repeat order!

Overall, this place offers a delightful experience; however, it’s not necessarily the top choice for Mexican cuisine within the property. But if you’re seeking a quick meal and genuinely enjoy this type of fare, we recommend giving it a try!
