I had the pleasure of visiting Allendale Social on a serene Wednesday evening after a leisurely stroll at the nearby New Jersey Botanical Gardens in Ringwood State Park. Our party chose to be seated in the elegantly designed dining room, where every detail enhances the overall dining experience. The venue also boasts a spacious bar, lounge, and an outdoor patio for those who prefer al fresco dining. Chef Sergentakis’s menu is a masterful blend of locally sourced seasonal ingredients, offering not only irresistible dishes but also enticing nightly specials.

Start your meal on a high note with one of their craft cocktails. Whether you opt for a classic Martini or choose something unique like The Humidor—crafted with bacon fat-washed bourbon, maple, orange bitters, and cardamom bitters—you won’t be disappointed. Another standout cocktail is the Charlie Girl, which combines vodka, cranberry, St. Germain, elderflower tonic, and mint for a refreshing, well-balanced experience.

Signature dishes include the extraordinary Lobster Thermidor, marrying whole lobster meat with seafood risotto and gruyere gratin, and the Freebird Chicken, tender with a mushroom fricassee, fregola, sherry chicken jus, and topped with asparagus. A new addition to the menu, the Squid Ink Linguini & Tuna, is also highly anticipated for future visits. Don’t forget to add a refreshing side, such as Summer Squash with browned butter or whipped potatoes, to enhance your meal.

Delight in favorites such as Chocolate Gâteau with pistachio, blood orange, and crème anglaise; the Warm Pineapple Cake accompanied by pistachio gelato, lime, and lemongrass-coconut emulsion; or the rich Coffee Mousse featuring roasted banana, toasted peanuts, and salted caramel.
