The Birth of an Idea
Emma’s entrepreneurial journey took a significant turn in 2020 when she experienced a life-changing personal transition. In 2022, she enrolled in a Business Development course with the Offaly Local Development Company (OLDC). During this time, a conversation with her friend Doreen Lawton sparked an idea that would shape her future—organizing tours specifically for those with Irish ancestry.
First Steps into Entrepreneurship
With the encouragement of her OLDC mentor, Des Regan, Emma launched her first week-long tour in August 2023. This tour catered to nine American visitors, showcasing the exquisite beauty of Ireland’s midlands. The collaboration with Doreen and her husband Dennis proved fruitful and left Emma brimming with excitement for what lay ahead.
Qualifications and Local Adventures
By September 2023, Emma had furthered her credentials by earning a National Certificate in Tour Guiding, all while busily co-piloting tours around Ireland. As autumn approached and international travel began to wane, Emma shifted her focus to offering local experiences.
One of her upcoming tours, launching from Shinrone GAA carpark, promises a delightful day trip to the stunning Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Gardens. Priced at €60, the tour includes transportation, entry fees, and insightful commentary as guests travel through notable sites.
Intimate Group Experiences
Emma’s tours prioritize small groups, accommodating just 16 travelers. This setup fosters connections among participants and allows for a more personalized experience. Spots are filling quickly, underscoring the demand for Emma’s unique offerings.
